About Us

Prostate Cancer

We know that after a diagnosis there are far more questions than answers. We strive to bring you only the best information from leading prostate cancer experts.

We encourage you to search our site for answers to your questions. If your question is still unanswered, simply use the “Ask A Question” form on the right side of this page and we will contact leading prostate cancer experts for an answer. Please keep in mind that our experts cannot answer case-specific questions.

As part of our work, we strive to build a community with some of the most influential prostate cancer organizations. We have worked with Malecare.org, Team Winter, PCRI, Blue Glove Men’s Health Fund, Banner MD Anderson, and more. In June of 2013, we partnered with Google+ to host Men’s Health Month.

We also seek to foster a sense of community for colon cancer patients and loved ones through our Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages.

If you’re a leading expert in prostate cancer and are interested in answering patient questions, please contact us at prostatecancerlive@gmail.com.

Prostate Cancer Live, alongside our affiliates Breast Cancer Answers and Colon Cancer Answers, seeks to be a resource for prostate cancer patients in all stages of the journey.

Dr. Richard Bevan-Thomas – Medical Director for ProstateCancerLive.com

dr-bevan-thomas (1)Dr. Bevan-Thomas is our medical director. He works alongside the Prostate Cancer Live team to ensure that we bring you only the best, most accurate information to assist you or your loved one on the prostate cancer journey. In addition to this, Dr. Bevan-Thomas works to ensure that we are up to date on current news and trends within the prostate cancer realm and keeps us abreast of new treatments available to prostate cancer doctors and patients.

In his role as Medical Director of USMD Prostate Cancer Center, Dr. Bevan-Thomas is at the forefront of the rapidly growing fields of robotic surgery and cryosurgery.

In 2002, Dr. Bevan-Thomas was one of the first physicians to perform robotic surgery when the technique was introduced in the U.S. At the time, he was in private practice in San Ramon, California, and served as chief of surgery at San Ramon Medical Center in California. He was recruited to USMD Prostate Cancer Center in 2007.

Additionally, Dr. Bevan-Thomas is a member of the USMD Prostate Cancer Center Cryosurgery team. Cryosurgery incorporates the use of slim probes known as ‘cryoprobes’ that periodically deliver cycles of extremely cold and warm temperatures to repeatedly freeze and thaw cancerous cells within and surrounding the prostate gland– ultimately destroying the cancerous cells.

A graduate of Duke University, Dr. Bevan-Thomas received both a master’ s degree in anatomy and his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed residency training in urologic surgery at the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center and the renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center, also in Houston. In 2002, he received two top honors in his field; the Pfizer Scholar in Urology and the Gerald G. Murphy Scholar in Urology.
